Hi, I’m Bishal Roy — a backend, cloud, and systems engineer based in Guwahati, India.
I write mostly Go and TypeScript, building backend systems and shipping them to production. Most of my career has been at early-stage startups, where I’ve had to take real ownership of what I build — from the initial design through to running it in production. When something breaks at 2am, that’s on me, and that’s the way I prefer it. The ownership is the part I like.
What I enjoy about early-stage work is the breadth. I like experimenting with different technologies and approaches, even when they don’t end up in production. The exploration is half the fun for me.
Outside of work, I live in the terminal. Neovim is my editor — actual
Neovim, not VS Code with a Vim plugin. fzf for fuzzy finding, tmux
for panes(which is now replaced with herdr), ghostty for the terminal itself.
If it has a CLI, I’ll find a way to live there.
